Scenes From the Weekend: My Brunch Haunt, Checking Out the Museum and My New Favourite TV Show

The week is so crazy already, and its only Tuesday! Its hard to believe that only two days ago I was enjoying a deliciously relaxing spring weekend.

On Friday evening my eagerly anticipated order from the Bathory arrived. I am always excited to try new pampering products and the bathory is such an awesome initiative. You choose you own blend three organic essential oils (I picked grapefruit, rosemary and bergamot) which they then put in a gorgeous bath soak for you and it arrives in an adorable little black jar all ready for an indulgent bath. My soak was so fragrant and I enjoyed it with a big glass of red and a re-read of some of my favourite magazines.

Saturday Morning was idyllic and perfect! I had a huge brunch with an old friend at my favourite haunt, the Wintergarden Pavilion. Spring had definitely 'sprung' and it was so relaxing to enjoy the sunshine streaming through the cafe windows.

I have been really enjoying Auckland Museum this year. So we decided to check it out after our brunch. Their latest temporary exhibit is a still life representation of  Scott and Shackleton's Huts. I loved the rich blend of art, history and science and, at times, I found it quite emotionally evocative. My take away quote: "Take it all in all, I do not believe anybody on Earth has it worse than an Emperor penguin."

On Sunday we got the family together for a picnic lunch in the domain to celebrate Fathers Day. Being a real family time girl I loved it. There, is nothing quite like laying in the sun, enjoying food while hanging out with the people you love most in the world. I am also excited because I made healthy picnic foods which I'll be sharing later this week on the blog.

On Sunday afternoon I discovered the delightfully funny "The Mindy Project" and I can definitely say its a gem of a show. It reminded me of the quirkiness of New Girl and Ugly Betty but in a medical setting and, unfortunately, its very addictive. Waiting on the Season 2 DVD to come out will be a considerable challenge.

So that about sums up my weekend. What activities are you enjoying now Spring has arrived?

  1. Not an activity as such but I'm enjoying wearing lighter layers of clothing! Winter is great and all but I often find myself staring longingly at my summer dresses, tshirts and the like so yeah I'm enjoying dressing more for my favourite season. Oh and seeing the gorgeous flowers coming back into bloom along with my favourite fruits.

    1. Yes! Isn't it great that its warming up enough to start wearing dresses again? And there is nothing quite like berry season being just round the corner. I spotted some strawberries in the supermarket today and got a bit overly excited about it.
