I did a lot of reading by the river and fell head over heels with Kinfolk magazine. It has inspired me to scale down and take more time for reconnection and creativity in 2015.
I had a sunny and salty day exploring the northern beaches with the girls. Auckland never gets such beautiful surf and it was fun to get back into the sea after a long, cold winter.
I did a day trip to visit my parents who were staying in Rawene and decided to check out the famous bathrooms of Kawa Kawa. I loved their creative, eco-friendly design incorporating such bright recycled materials. Its worth a stop to see the prettiest toilets in New Zealand.
Rawene is such a historically rich and scenic town. Surrounded by water you can enjoy both sunsets and sunrises over the water. The town was packed with a bright and vintage aesthetic spotted with adorable vibrantly colored timber cottages. I also highly recommend the boardwalk through the estuary which is packed with marine wildlife, from eels to crabs and sea birds.
On my final day in Whangarei I helped Mikayla with her Lord of the Rings themed 21st. I love setting up and planning events and had a ball creating centerpieces, backdrops and hobbit themed signs. The hall turned out great and it was so much fun to dress up as a hobbit for the evening.
