I picked up this delicious picnic breakfast from Little Bird Unbakery. They have some of the most delicious vegan food I have ever had and their sprouted gluten free bread is out of this world! I'd eat it every day if I could.
While I was out and about I came across these gorgeous sunflowers. One of my favourite things about summer is the abundance of fresh flowers I currently have fresh marigolds, peonies, sunflowers and roses scattered around my house. Nature is the best artwork you can have in your home.
As it grows closer to Christmas the pohutukaw trees are beginning to blossom around Auckland and its so bright and inspirational. I got up early on Sunday and had a long wander around Cornwall park enjoying the native trees and chorus of tuis. It took me back to my childhood summers at the beach, surrounded by New Zealand bush and birds.
I was very excited with my haul from the local vintage shop and Huckleberry Farms. I am all stocked for Christmas with my favourite organic iced tea, hot chocolate and lots of cooking spices. I always enjoy grocery shopping and finding new foods to explore and this week was no exception.
I spent some time on Saturday and Sunday experimenting with some new Pho and aromatic South East Asian broths and stocks which was so fun. I love working with holiday spices like cloves and star anise at this time of year without actually making 'traditional' western Christmas dishes. Our apartment still smells like cloves and ginger two days later and I'm so excited to share these recipes with you in the new year.
