Its been a while since I have done a tea post so I thought I'd share a few notes about one of my new favourites, Genmaicha, traditionally the 'poor mans' japanese tea was developed by 'padding out' the tea with roasted brown rice. The loose leaf looks beautiful with its caramel coloured rice grains and the occasional popped rice grain and when steeped it turns a beautiful pale honey coloured. Genmaicha is quite different from 'regular' green tea as it has a nuttier and milder flavour and has a hotter, shorter steeping time.
I got my blend from Chapter, my favourite tea shop, and its delicious and pretty. So if you're looking for a green tea with a bit more warmth and nuttiness this is the one for you...
