A foodie day

Today was a food filled day! I have been enjoying having a juicer again so this morning I got up nice and early to make freshly squeezed juice. I am enjoying tonnes of fruit and vegetables at the moment - our local green grocers has masses of discounted fruit and veg at the back of the store, perfect for juices and cooking, and on top of this I have all the citrus and spinach from my own garden. I made some carrot, spinach and orange juice and it tasted surprisingly sweet! This juice packed with lots of nutrients like iron, vitamin c, antioxidants and betalains.

Juices and smoothies are great 'natural multivitamins'

The day was just so beautiful I decided to walk into town to do some shopping. I think its safe to say summer has definitely arrived!! First sunburn of the year.

When I got back I did a big batch of cooking and baking (of which I will post the recipes later) and I made several litres of applesauce. I love using applesauce! Its great with breakfast oatmeal, or as a fat or liquid replacement in healthier recipes.

Mason jars of applesauce (and tonnes more in the freezer)

This evening I had a great friend over for a homemade Japanese food party to celebrate her birthday and completion of exams. DIY sushi is such a fun idea for entertaining as it gives participants a fun activity and a focal point. We used brown rice for the sushi which is so much healthier and it still tastes amazing, in fact, I prefer it! I love experimenting with different cultural foods.

I finally got to utilize my beautiful sushi boards.

Sushi is by far my favourite food, and its so healthy!

Tonight was such a fun, food filled night while still maintaining healthy elements (apart from the red velvet cupcake dessert). I'll definitely be introducing more interactive elements to my future dinner events. Q.S.B.
