Tea time: Unhappy Chai Drinker

So I am an unhappy little munchkin at present. Recently I journeyed into the big scary city (just kidding, I love you Auckland) to try a new tea shop in that the only really nice place I have found so far is in Mount Eden. Being the lazy person I am I wanted somewhere either closer to my house or the city... Anyways I tried out tea culture on K road and.... its safe to say I wasn't a big fan.

Let me start of by saying they have some awesome teas, the range isn't huge, but they have the basic blends and high end black and green teas, and a somewhat varying range of herbal teas. My praise, however, stops here. If I wanted a wide range of good teas I would shop online, it's usually cheaper, more convenient and straightforward but I don't shop for tea online. This is because I have generally found tea shops are run by friendly, tea loving people. I go out and venture to tea stores in hope of meeting a rare kindred spirit, a fellow tea drinker, a whimsical brewer, a knowledgeable herbalist. I go to tea stores to learn more tips about tea brewing, and discover new teas and absorb the wisdom of the generally enthusiastic tea-monger.

Unfortunately, my experience was of no such help. I was not served for a good ten minutes, even though I was one of two customers, and the shop attendant seemed to be on something a lot stronger than tea. In addition to this, she was unable to answer any of my questions regarding their teas and seemed to think a 100 gram bag of tea was a lot (!!). I left the store with a yoga chai blend and a deflated spirit. I will not be journeying there again.

Was the Yoga Chai blend good? Yes. Was the range good? It was O.K. But the terrible service, lack of professionalism and enthusiasm from the workers there was spirit crushing for my little tea loving heart  (</3). Me and my little gumboots will journey elsewhere for my brews of deliciousness. Q.S.B.
