North Queensland Trip Part 2.

After a few days in Cairns we headed to Townsville to see friends, via the green and luscious Tablelands. I love Kuranda, it reminds me of the highlands in Malaysia (where we spent some time when I was growing up). The Tablelands are lush, green and exotic with a vast amount of quirky cafes and shops. We had brunch overlooking the jungle-y hills of Kuranda before driving South through the lush cane fields.

Once In Townsville I spent most of my time with friends and didn't get up to much adventuring and sight seeing. We did, however, manage to check our the new and swanky paleo cafe. I loved their menu, its healthy, delicious and all gluten free!

A few days later I headed back to Cairns and enjoyed a sunny and relaxing five days with Craig before I flew home. We spent some time back up in the tablelands hiking Lake Barrine and enjoying the Tea House's award winning food and hospitality. This place is a must see if you're ever in North Queensland.

On my final day in Cairns we checked out the Wildlife Dome, on top of the city casino. This place exceeded my expectations by far. There are free roaming birds, reptiles and macro pods with beautiful snake and crocodile enclosures. There's nothing like wandering through an indoor utopia of wildlife, so many photography opportunities.

A day later, I flew home via Brisbane and enjoyed the impressive duty free at the airport. I'm now well stocked with lipsticks for the year ahead. So tell me, where is your favourite holiday spot? And your top duty free steals?
