My Weekend: Hot Pools, Juicing and Long Walks

This weekend was a bit more lazy and slow paced than my usual. I was down with a nasty cold on Friday so I had a restful recoup watching a whole lot of Stephen Fry in America and drinking freshly squeezed orange, lemon and ginger juice. Stephen Fry in America is probably my favourite travel series of all time because of its quirky-ness and humour. Every time I watch it I want to do visit the USA so much. I'm very keen to do a long road trip through the states sometime in the next few years.

By Saturday afternoon I was feeling significantly better so I decided to get some fresh air and go for a nice long walk, getting those endorphins up. I did some bird watching and photography in the beautiful Blockhouse Bay reserve, which was swarming with wading birds and various duck species, then pottered on to One Tree Hill to enjoy a long stroll in their breathtaking olive grove. Its always so serene and restful.

On Sunday I started off the day with a gorgeous international service in over 5 different languages. It was truly beautiful. Multicultural events always speak to me, having grown up in 3 different cultures I always feel a bit like a cultural hybrid. Watching others express their traditions really resonates with me and makes me a bit emotional as I feel a piece of my home and my heart is in several different countries.

My best friend then joined me for the rest of the day and we had the most fun girls day out we've had for a while. Esther has a crazy schedule with work commitments, as do I so it was wonderful to have the best part of the day just to laugh, chat, snack and drive around. We had a nice long soak in the thermal springs south of Auckland, it was the perfect relaxing end to a beautiful weekend. Now back to work a busy week a head.
