Because I spent a lot of my early years growing up in Malaysia I adore(!!!) asian food. Nasi Goreng (fried rice) is by far one of my favourite dishes of all time, but I usually only leave these dishes for special occasions because they are loaded with bad fats and carbs. In that this is also my boyfriends favourite food I endeavoured to create a healthy version of this dish that replicated the salty, sweet, sticky flavour.
I was so happy with the result! It tasted super yummy and full of flavour and Craig was shocked that it was a low calorie dish. So enjoy my new recipe...
Put fry pan on high and add olive oil. Add chicken, bacon and prawns and fry until 'cooked through'. Add garlic and egg and 'scramble'.
Add rice to the pan, followed by peas, diced carrot and diced celery.
Add Kecap Manis and soy sauce. Take off the heat.
Serve with shallots and red chilli to flavour.... Enjoy!!!
*Kecap Manis - Malaysian/Indonesian Sweet Soy Sauce - found in most Asian grocers/large supermarkets.
